Nghia's father died in 2006. His mother lives in Danang, where she sells lottery tickets. Once a month she visits her children and pays about 100,000vnd ($5.73) for their care.

Prior to coming to Promise House, Nghia's oldest brother, who is 14, took care of Nghia and his sister. The boy did everything--washing, shopping, cooking, even singing the youngest to sleep.

When Promise House opened its doors in February of 2010, we welcomed Nghia. Now, he is safe, well cared for, and surrounded by love.
